Meet Some of our Cancer Warriors

  • Jennifer Cox

I have been a part of Cancer Warriors since its inception in 2017. Like the rest of us, I feel surrounded by people who receive the devastating and scary news that they have cancer. I always want to help and feel like I am making their world a little better. I can accomplish this by sending cards, or dinner or even some funny jokes from time to time, but those gestures don’t seem like enough. I would love to see a world where cancer is gone forever. Much like Robin, I want to be a warrior that is doing my small part to make this a thing of the past!

  • Karen Ortman

I support cancer warriors because it’s such an amazing nonprofit for a great cause! My mom lost her battle with breast cancer two years ago and I want to continue the fight for her (and myself or any of my sisters or our kids in the future). My moms sister is a breast cancer survivor and I’m supporting her as well. I’ll never give up, thanks for the chance to be a part of something so meaningful to my heart.

  • Erin Ray

Cancer is unfortunately a disease that has affected so many peoples’ lives. Whether one has survived and is continuing to fight, or whether someone has lost a loved one or friend to this terrible disease, it continues to devastate families. Losing my dad at age 12 to cancer shaped me as a person. Subsequently I have lost numerous family members to the disease, and thankfully I have family and friends who have beaten it. Being a part of Cancer Warriors is deeply personal; I am passionate about continuing to help raise money and awareness for all types of cancer so that one day, hopefully, there are treatments that will prevent kids from losing a parent like I did. One person CAN make a difference, and together, Cancer Warriors will make a difference.

  • Kristine Komorowski

Having seen the effects of cancer on friend’s families, I know that doing what we can to support cancer research is extremely important. When I participate in the Cancer Warrior 5k, I can be confident that the money I’m contributing is being donated to cancer research. This is an amazing event that I look forward to annually!

  • Leah Foran

I support Cancer Warriors, Inc. because they allow me to feel like a part of the fight against cancer, even from afar. Although I am not local, Cancer Warriors offers a "ghost runner" option. I lost my father to cancer in 2016 so I know how powerless cancer can make a person feel. By supporting an organization like Cancer Warriors I not only am able to directly support those with cancer through a monetary donation, but I am also able to commemorate my father. Cancer Warriors posts a sign in memory of my father and creates a video so that I can be a part of the day.

  • Shawn Sejpal

My name is Shawn. I support cancer warriors because cancer has affected my life and changed it in so many ways. I lost both of my parents, a couple aunts, a couple uncles and a cousin to various cancers over the years. I pray one day there will be a cure and cancer will be a thing of the past!
